There was one CD, however, with the words 'UPRIGHT CB GUY' written in faded marker on its yellowed surface that did still play.

As some of you may have guessed the Upright CB = Upright Citizen's Brigade, a sketch comedy show that played on Comedy Central a few years back. The show never impressed me but what did impress me was Brigade member Matt Besser's ability to turn an irritating situation into comedy album gold.

About his comedy record May I Help You [Dumbass]?:

Every day for a year, Matt Besser answered around a dozen "wrong number" phone calls made to his apartment. These strangers believed they were calling a technical support operator in Houston, Texas, but actually they had neglected to dial the 1 before the area code. Instead of instructing his fellow Manhattanites of the honest mistake they had made, he decided to help them with their computer problems and record their phone calls. Just to make sure that what goes around comes around.

And remember, they called him.

My favorite track [I've been attempting to duplicate his impression for a week now]:

Matt Besser - Jimmy Stewart

AN EXPERIEMENT IN FULL LENGTH MIX

via rapidshare: http://rapidshare.de/files/32944135/913.mp3

PECKED BY THE RIGHT HEN
See God's Ark A-Moving
Lee Fields - Rapping With Lee
Lulu - I'm A Tiger
Sparks - England
Exuma - Exuma, The Obeah Man
Stevens & Grdnic - Exotica Massage Parlour
Tony Moon W/ The Aktones - NaCl
The Cramps - Kizmiaz
Tuneful Trolley - I Got You Around
Kitchen Cinq - You'll Be Sorry Someday
Flo & Eddie - Come To My Rescue, Webelos
Dramatics - Get Up And Get Down
Sylvers - Love Me, Love Me Not
Ohio Players - Funky Worm
Stevens & Grdnic - Disco Box Set
5000 Volts - I'm On Fire
Alan Vega - Speedway
Fugs - I Couldn't Get High
Scorpions - I'm Goin' Mad
Sweet - The Juicer
Bee Gees - Ernest Of Being George
Troggs - Maybe The Madmen
Small Faces - Lazy Sunday (sorry about quality)
Bob & Earl - Harlem Shuffle
Marlena Shaw - California Soul
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes - Get Out (and let me cry)
Rahsaan Roland Kirk - Clickety Clack

THEY REALLY TURN ME ON

I believe is the expression.

Just in time for the local temp here to dip into the low 50's, we find Canned Heat rocking out for a bunch of famous "mice."

The Chipmunks & Canned Heat - Christmas Song/Christmas Boogie.mp3

I AM HOME

Lulu - Love Loves To Love.mp3

LAYIN IT DOWN

I'll be nearly unfindable for the next few days. I think he looks like a young George Burns but again with much worse teeth. This song is chock-full of euphemisms and innuendo, and at one point was banned, from what? radio? being publicly performed? I don't know.
